The Chrysler/Mercedes NAG1, 722.6 family of transmission includes W5A580, WA580, W5A380, and W5J400.

Many Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Mercedes vehicles have the NAG1, 722.6 (W5A580, WA580, W5A380, W5J400) transmission so PML has designed three different pans for the transmission.
Some vehicles which typically can use this pan are:
- Jeep Grand Cherokee (SRT8, Laredo, Limited, Overland), 2006 to 2013
- Dodge Magnum, Charger, Challenger, 2006 to 2013
- Chrysler 300, 300C with 5 speed transmissions, 2005 to 2012
- Mercedes (several models/years, sound plate may need altering, see Installations below)
- Sprinter Vans (some models, usually 2002 to 2006, check for frame crossmembers)
Always check your vehicle to verify transmission and clearance as configurations vary.

To determine which PML NAG1, 722.6 pan will work best, check how much space is available for a larger transmission pan. Look at the space from the stock transmission pan to:
- Ground (the transmission pan should not be lower than the frame)
- Drive Shaft
- Skid or sound dampening plates
- Other vehicle parts
Little or no space, like Jeep Wrangler and some cars:

2015 Jeep Wrangler, Aftermarket Exhaust and Frame
Wes updated his 2015 Wrangler Rubicon with a turbo from Prodigy Performance. An added benefit of the turbo is the space available for this PML deep transmission pan.
Wranglers with the NAG1/722.6 transmission usually use PML stock capacity pan 11132 because the stock frame and exhaust do not allow enough clearance for a deep pan. With the aftermarket turbo, Wes had space for this PML deep transmission pan.
With this PML pan installed, Wes reported to us that his fluid temperatures are consistently 12 degrees cooler than before.
2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8
Randall reported that his transmission fluid was 190 degrees after 30 min of driving before installing this PML pan. After he installed the PML pan and driving for 30 minutes with the temp outside at 90 degrees the fluid temperature was at 170 degrees. He removed about 4 quarts and added 1.3 gallons plus half a quart. He purchased a Dorman NAG1 transmission level dipstick from O'Reillys so he could check his fluid level.
For the filter, Randall suggests checking that the o–ring from the old filter is removed and that the new filter seats correctly in the slot in the valve body (see image at left).
He did not have any clearance issues from the larger PML transmission pan. It cleared the frame, exhaust and skid plate.
2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8
Troy installed this pan on his 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8. The design of the Jeep makes for a close fit and the passenger side bolts were difficult to reach and he recommends a long allen head sockets. He reported about 0.300 inch clearance between the PML pan and the catalytic converter. From the exhaust hanger to the PML pan, he has 0.070 inches. He removed 5.5 quarts and added 8 quarts. He used RTV. No leaks and shifting is good.
Troy took fluid temperatures using the Torque Pro app and reading the PIDS input from the transmission directly. He saw about an 8 degree F lower termpature in daily driving and the extra capacity takes a little longer to get hot, which is perfect for his racing.
2007 Grand Cherokee 3.0 Diesel
Robert installed PML's deep pan for the NAG1/722.6 transmission on his 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 3.0 diesel engine. He is very happy with his PML Pan and reported that "The directions were well written and easy to follow. The bolt hole depth check was a very important detail. The fit and finish of the cast pan was excellent. There was tons of room for the pan to clear the exhaust and drive train." He added 1.75 quarts more than stock. 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee
HGM Transmission Controllers installed PML's 722.6/NAG1 transmission pan on a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo V6 3.7L. The installation was a simple bolt-on process. Even thought this is a deep pan, the exhaust and frame are still much closer to the ground than the pan so there are not any clearance issues. Our thanks to HGM for installing our pan.
2013 Dodge Challenger
2013 Dodge Challenger SRT 392 has this PML pan installed. Customer reported that it fit perfectly.

2006 Dodge Charger SRT8
George installed PML's transmission pan on his 2006 Charger. He added 1.5 quarts more fluid then went to the Dodge dealer to get the fluid level checked. Before removing the stock pan, he supported the transmission then removed the transmission support brace. This gave him access to all the bolts.
2006 Magnum SRT8
Stefan installed the PML deep pan for NAG1/722.6 transmission on his 2006 Dodge Magnum SRT 8. Here is a link to more pictures posted on Facebook: PML Pan on Dodge Magnum. He had these notes on the installation:
- Removed the cross member for access to the two rear bolts
- Used Chrysler AT RTV to seal the pan to the transmission
- Cross member fit with the PML pan, no clearance issues
- Stock fluid was 4.8 quarts, added 1.7 more quarts with PML pan for a total of 6.5 quarts
- Used chart to get accurate read for fluid level at a temperature (chart found on-line or in Hanes manual) while car in reverse or drive
- A special dipstick is needed (can be ordered at dealership, local parts store or Amazon)
- Drain plug in the rear works well

2005 Sprinter 2500
Sprinter vans with frame cross members under the front and rear of the stock pan need to use PML Part Number 11124. This Sprinter could use any of the PML 722.6/NAG1 transmission pans. There is plenty of clearance to the frame and to the ground.
2006 Mercedes S65
To install this deep PML transmission pan, Dustin cut a square out of the sound dampening plate. The picture show the PML pan installed, the modified plate installed, and the view from the front towards the back of the undercarriage.
2005 Mercedes Sprinter 3500
Jon, a mechnical engineer and designer (see Whitledge Designs), noticed his van, "The Magic Bus", struggled over long grades and fluid temperatures would rise.
He performed a number of aerodynamic and thermodynamic calculations, and estimated his Sprinter required an additional 49 horsepower to climb the Cajon Pass (California) at 60 mph. This translates to the dissipation of about 125,000 BTU/hr of additional heat (note: one horsepower equates to 2544 BTU/hr). After weeks of research and fabrication, he developed auxiliary cooling systems for the radiator and transmission and included this PML pan as part of his plan.
Damian installed this PML deep 722.6/NAG1 transmission pan on a 2005 Mercedes AMG Class C55. The pan installed easily, fit great and did not reduce overall ground clearance. The PML pan does not allow for the undercarriage sound dampening plate to mount as designed so he cut out the bottom of the plate below the pan. This also aids with air flow and cooling. Although the PML pan is too deep to not hit the plate, the exhaust hangs down further than the PML pan. Our thanks to Damian for the pictures and comments.
2002 Mercedes SLK 32
Pat installed this PML transmission pan on his 2002 Mercedes SLK 32. He needed some help in selecting the right pan for his car and was very happy with his experience with PML.
PML makes a cork composite gasket for PML NAG1/722.6 transmission pans.
One PML gasket is included with each transmission pan. Additional gaskets are available.
PML NAG1/722.6 pans are not compatible with the stock gaskets. The PML gasket is not compatible with the stock pan.
RTV can be used in place of the gasket but the pan is designed to work with the gasket.

Filter for PML 722.6/NAG1 Transmission Pan
The Mercedes part number on the filter PML used during design and development is 140 277 00 95.
PML design this pan to work with the stock filter. There are filter supports cast into the pan to hold the filter in place at the same level as the stock pan. The filter supports eliminate the need for an extension.
Dipstick and Transmission Fluid Level
The fluid level should be at the same level in the stock pan and a PML pan. On many vehicles, the dipstick uses the bottom of the pan as a stop. PML pans have a ledge where the dipstick hits at the same level as the stock pan even though the PML pan is larger overall. In the above images of the inside of the pan, you can see the square ledge near the filter supports.
Many vehicles with these transmissions do not have a dipstick and the correct fluid level is based on temperature. The cap for the transmission fluid fill and level check can say "See Dealer". The installer of a replacement pan needs to have the correct tools to replace the transmission fluid according to the factory instructions. PML does not provide a dipstick.
Shield on Passenger's Front Corner
Some vehicles have a shield that attaches to the retaining clip at the front, passenger side corner of the stock pan.
Pans available since March 2016 have a tab for the shield to bolt on to. If you have an older pan, you will need to fabricate a connector or slightly bend the shield to bolt onto the PML pan.
PML placed the drain hole on the driver's side, near the rear of the vehicle.
A magnetic drain plug is included along with new mounting bolts.
A side location for the drain is safer than the bottom and still has easy access.
Optional Machining for Temperature Sending Unit
Optionally, this pan can be machined for a temperature sending unit.
If you would like PML to drill and tap hole, the machining charge is per hole. A plug for the hole is included.
The standard size is 1/8 NPT. Call or email if you need a different size.

- Driver/left side
- Passenger/right side, toward the front
- Passenger/right side, toward the rear
