This PML transmission pan fits many 1989 to 2004 Ford 2WD and 4WD trucks, SUVs and vans with the E4OD or 4R100 transmission. Typical applications are:

    • F250, F350, F450, F550, 1989 to 2002
    • F150 Lightning trucks, 1993 to 2004
    • Some full size Broncos
    • Excursion
    • E250 (5.4 V8), E350, E450 vans and motor homes
    • Lincoln Navigator

Because vehicles vary, always check your vehicle to verify the configuration and clearance before ordering.

Trucks with 5.4 Gas Engine: Generally, the stock exhaust runs too close to the stock transmission pan to allow for a larger pan. Check for carefully for clearance.

Excursion owners: Excursions with V10 engines have reported that the exhaust hits near the front of the pan. Excursion owners have told us that our transmission pan will clear the frame cross member. If you have a 4WD, you may need to loosen the rear transmission mount bolts and jack up the transfer case slightly to ease access to the bolts along the back of the pan.

460 V8 with "Banks Power Pack" kit: Check carefully for clearance between the exhaust and the transmission pan. We have had mixed reports from customers.

    2001 F–350

Universal Transmission in New Mexico installed PML differential covers and transmission pan on this 2001 Ford F–350 4WD. The truck is lifted so the heavy duty PML covers with the black powder coat and shaved fins add a great look in addition to extra capacity.

Check bolts when you receive the transmission pan. Most E4OD and 4R100 transmissions have 13 through holes and 4 holes in the front and 3 in the back are blind holes. Blind holes need to be clean. A spray of WD40 can help. Check blind holes after cleaning to make sure the longer PML bolts do not bottom out.

First images shows the drain is on the left/driver side of the pan at the deepest area to allow for complete draining. Also on the left/driver side there is an area that can be drilled and tapped for a temperature sending unit.

Second image shows a pan machined with a 1/8 NPT hole for a sending unit on the driver side of the pan.

Third image shows the right/passenger side of the pan. The location that can be drilled and tapped is the half circle area near the middle.

This PML transmission pan always has a drain hole and includes a magentic drain plug.

Machining for a temperature sending unit is optional.

If you would like PML to drill and tap a hole, select the option before clicking the ADD TO CART button. The location can be either the driver side or the the passenger side of the pan. There is a machining charge. A plug for the hole is included. The standard size is 1/8 NPT. Call or email if you need a different size.

    About Filters

PML designed this pan to use the stock filter.

The pick up for the transmission fluid is at the same point with this pan and the stock pan. The fluid level is at the same place with the PML pan as with the stock pan. No filter extension is needed.

PML Ford pan, filter supports    Ford E4OD, 4R100 transmission fluid filters
Inside of PML E4OD, 4R100 pan and stock filters. Click on image to view larger.

The PML pan has posts cast into the pan on the inside to support the stock filter. These filter supports hold the filter in the same location as the stock pan.

The 2WD filter is on the left and the 4WD filter is on the right.

Either of these filters should work with this PML pan. Some people prefer the 4WD filter because of the longer pick up.

Information for reference only. Installer must verify gasket, filter, and fit on the vehicle.

    About Gaskets

PML recommends a flexible cork or cork composite gasket for this pan, such as this:

E4OD, 4R100, 5R110 cork gasket   PML E4OD/4R100 transmission pan with cork gasket
Pictures of cork gasket and gasket on PML E4OD, 4R100 pan. Click on image to view larger in new tab or window.

This cork gasket is a replacement for Ford OEM part number E9TZ-7A191-A. We ordered it from GlobalTransmissionParts.com and their part number is 3072A. This gasket will work with E4OD, 4R100 and 5R110 transmissions.

We do not recomment hard, reusable gaskets for our pans. These gaskets work best with stamped steel pans.
