PML designed this pan to meet the demands of GM high performance cars with the 200 4R transmission.
This PML deep pan fits many models of rear wheel drive cars with this 4 speed automatic transmission. GM used this transmission from 1982-1990. The 200 4R is also popular in restorations and racing applications today.
Examples of vehicles using the 200–4R transmissions are:
- Buick Regal T Type
- Grand National
- Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS
If a bracket attaches to the stock pan, the bracket can require modification or replacement for attaching to a PML pan because the walls and flange of the PML pan are thicker than the stock pan.

Gasket
For a gasket, PML generally recommends a cork composite type or paper fiber type gasket.
There are several brands and vendors for gaskets.
This is an example. It is a GM TH200-4R Transmission Oil Pan Gasket part number 8634198, ordered from GlobalTransmissionParts.com.

Filter Information
This PML pan works with stock filters. Example part numbers are: AC Delco TF234, Fram FT1057B, Fram FT1057C, Hastings TF60, Purolator P1194, Wix 58896
PML 200 4R transmission pans have filter supports so a filter extension is not needed. The supports hold the filter at the same level as the stock pan. The distance from the bottom of the stock pan to the top of the flange is 2.4 to 2.6 inches. The distance from PML filter supports to the top of the flange is the same. The stock filter is about 4.8 inches tall.
This shows the inside of the stock and PML 200 4R pans:
Some customers have reported to us that a 700R4 filter may also work with our 200 4R transmission pans. PML does not have any experience with this or recommend this.
Filter information is provided for reference only. Installer should verify transmission, filter and fitment based on the individual vehicle.

Optionally, PML can drill and tap a 1/8 NPT hole for a temperature sending unit. This would be for an aftermarket temperature gage. There is a custom machining charge.
A boss (thick area) on the passenger side of the pan is available for drilling and tapping.
Select the option before adding pan to cart. A plug for the hole is included. The standard size is 1/8 NPT. Check your aftermarket gage to verify the thread specifications for the sending unit before ordering. Call or email if you need a different size.
Bracket on Stock Pan?
Some vehicles have a bracket that attaches to the transmission pan and holds a cable in place. If a bracket attaches to the stock pan, the bracket will probably require modification or replacement to work on a PML pan. The walls and flange of the PML pan are much thicker than stock. This means that there is less space between the pan wall and the bolt hole.
