PML Differential Cover for GM 8.2 10 Bolt
Some GM cars in the 1960s and 1970s have the 10 bolt GM 8.2 inch ring gear rear differential.
The shape and size of the 10 bolt cover 8.5/8.625 differential is nearly identical to the stock cover for the GM 8.2.
The bolt pattern is not quite the same. To get the PML cover to fit, the holes at 6 o'clock and 12 o'clock were enlarged. Other holes may also need to be enlarged to ensure that the cover will fit.
PML GM 8.5 Inch Covers Modified
PML has a machine shop on site and can enlarge the holes. There is a custom machining charge. Some customers have done this themselves.
If you would like PML to enlarge the holes, please call 310-671-4345 to order.
The holes were enlarged to fit a GM 8.2 inch rear differential.
The first cover we did was a horizontal fin cover and was installed on a 1966 GTO.
A customer provided Felpro gasket part number 55028 for reference for his 1966 Chevelle with the 8.2.
Many 1964 to 1972 GM, Buick, Olds, and Pontiac cars and vans use the GM 8.2 ring gear and may be able to use a PML 8.5 inch cover with the holes enlarged. Installer or mechanic must check clearance, fit and function.
Some models during these years used a 12 bolt GM 8.875 inch ring gear instead of the 8.2 so be sure to check your configuration. GM began using the 8.5 instead of the 8.2 around 1973.
