PML designed this pan specifically for the C5 Corvette.

This pan allows for adding transmission fluid through the pan as required by 4L60 transmission in the C5 Corvette. The fill hole is on the driver's side. A plug is included with hardware.

The fins on the bottom of the pan and the extra capacity assist with cooling the fluid. Cooler running temperatures reduces wear and tear on the transmission.

Note:

On some models, the PML pan was rubbing on the cross member just behind the pan. This was preventing installation on some models. PML now machines the pan so there is clearance to the frame. Contact us for details and to order a PML C5 Corvette transmission pan.

Generally, this pan can be installed on these vehicles:

1997 to 2004 C5 Corvette
Some 2005 C6 Corvettes with 4l60E transmission

2005 C6 Corvette: This pan may not work. There may be a clearance issue with the cradle.

Installations

Installation Note

When we had to make new tooling, the PML pan had clearance issues on the rear frame cross members on some vehicles. PML now machines the transmission pan for better fitment. Contact PML for for more information and to order one of these transmission pans.

2003 Corvette

Jeff installed this PML transmission pan on his 2003 C5 Corvette with an aftermarket bolt on Borla exhaust. The PML pan had some machining to provide clearance for the rear frame cross member. Jeff needed to grind some metal off the exhaust manifolds on his aftermarket Borla exhaust to make enough space to install the PML pan. Although it is a close fit, he would recommend the PML pan.

2002 C5 Corvette Coupe with 5.7L LS1

2000 C5 Corvette Targa

Bob installed the PML C5 transmission pan on his 2000 Corvette Targa. He liked the great quality of the PML pan. The PML pan was so close to cross member of his C5, he needed to remove 2 to 3 mm of material from the PML pan.

2000 C5 Corvette

These pictures show this pan installed on a 2000 C5 Corvette. The PML pan bolts on in place of the stock pan.

There is still ground clearance with the larger PML pan installed.

Specifications

Filter Information

PML designed this pan to work with the stock filter for the C5 Corvette 4L60E transmission. The pan has cast-in filter supports so no filter extension is needed.

Drain and Fill/Level Check

The fill/level check and drain holes are on the driver's side. The fill hole functions the same way as on the stock pan.

A magnetic drain plug, fill plug and new mounting bolts are included with each pan.

Filter Supports, Temperature Sending Unit Locations, Inside of Pan

Image shows the inside of this PML pan. There are filter supports, the drain hole, the fill hole and locations for an aftermarket temperature gage sending unit.

To avoid problems with filter extensions, PML cast filter supports into the bottom of the pan. See the section on filters.

For temperature sending units, the standard size is 1/8 NPT. If another size is needed, please call or email. There are three possible locations that can be machined. If PML drills and taps the hole, there is a custom machining charge. Select location before adding to cart.

One possible location for a 1/8 NPT hole is the boss near the bottom of the pan on the passenger side, shown in this picture.

Gasket

This Corvette transmission pan works with inexpensive stock gaskets, such as those made of cork or a rubber cork compound. The gasket flange is machined flat for a secure seal.

Any brand of cork/cork composite gasket is good. Here is an example of one from Mahle, available at RockAuto.com. The Mahle part number is W39365.

Shift Cable Bracket

If there is a bracket on the stock transmission pan, check carefully before ordering.

You may have to modify a cable mounting bracket to use this pan. Some brackets do not work with this PML pan even with modification because of the thicker walls and flange.
