These valve covers are on special because of cosmetic defects. All polished sand cast aluminum parts have some cosmetic issues and porosity but this set has more than normal so the price is discounted.
Both covers have defects in the lip below the BUICK script. The lip tapers on the left side, so it is not straight across. About 3 inches are slanted instead of straight. This lip area also has some slight discoloration for the last 1 1/2 inches.
One cover has a large 1/16th inch porosity hole on the intake manifold side of the cover and some larger porosity on the left end.
The other cover has a lot of small, pinprick porosity in the area above BUICK and on the back.
For reference, see our regular BUICK Nailhead V8, Fins And Vintage Script Valve Covers, PML Part Number 11080-2.
A cork composite gasket is recommended and is available from PML: gasket for PML Buick Nailhead valve covers.
These valve covers can be machined for PCV/breather/oil fill holes. There is a machining charge. Read this Machining PML Buick Nailhead valve covers PDF for more information.
This special should fit and function like a regular part.
These valve covers are sold as-is and cannot be returned.
