Volume: 0.5 quarts over stock, approximately On Ford F–350 trucks, this front differential cover is slightly deeper than the stock covers for added fluid capacity.
Dimensions: Click here for dimensions.
The stock cover we have is about 2.63 inches deep. This cover is about 1 inch deeper. On the inside, the distance from the gasket flange to the inside is approximately 3.1 inches at the tallest point. Check for clearance with wheels straight, left and right. Check that the fill/level check is in the same location as on your stock cover.
Number of Bolts: 10 bolts
The design of this PML Dana 50, 60 front differential cover works with the larger ring gear found in 2000 and older trucks and SUVs.
Benefits:
- Round shape similar to stock cover for 2000 and older vehicles with the larger ring gear
- Extra capacity
- Fins for heat dissipation and classic styling
- Sand cast aluminum construction for thick walls
- Machined gasket flange for a secure seal
- Drain hole and magnetic plug to simplify maintenance
This PML Dana 50/60 front end cover is designed for older Ford Super Duty trucks. This cover clears the ring gear and the steering linkage on most older Ford truck applications. Other trucks and SUVs can also use this cover. Possible applications for this cover include:
- Dodge 1 ton trucks, 1975 to 1999
- Ford F–350 trucks and F–250, 1966 to about 2001
- Ford Excursion and , F–450, F–550, 1999 and newer (lifted, clearance checked)
- GM 1 ton trucks, 1973 to 1991
- Jeep and truck custom Dana 60 rear or front applications
Steering Linkage Clearance Concerns: For trucks about 1999 and newer, the steering linkage can cause a clearance issue with this cover. Trucks that are lifted or modified may not have any clearance issues. PML designed a cover to clear the linkage. See Part Number 11169. Older model trucks (1966 to about 1999), cannot use Part Number 11169 because it is too shallow to clear the gears on older trucks.
Vent: If your stock cover has a vent fitting (instead of having a vent on the differential housing), this differential cover cannot be used. The vent is common on some Dodge trucks.
Variations: Configurations vary so please check carefully. Some F–250 trucks have independent front suspension and cannot use this cover. Some Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks can have a track bar and do not have clearance for a larger cover. Be sure to check for clearance with the steering all the way at stops.
Rear Cover: For a Ford Sterling 10¼, 10½, see PML Part Number 7086. For a Dana 80, see PML Part Number 6065.

2001 F–350 with PML Differential Cover
Universal Transmission in New Mexico installed PML differential covers and transmission pan on this 2001 Ford F–350 4WD. The truck is lifted so the heavy duty PML covers with the black powder coat and shaved fins add a great look in addition to extra capacity.

Baja Designs at Offroad Expo 2021
We spotted this truck at the Offroad Expo in Ontario, CA on October 9, 2021. Our thanks to Baja Designs for choosing a PML differential cover.
Drain and Fill/Level Check Holes
This differential cover has drain and fill/level check holes.
The drain hole on the bottom allows servicing the differential without removing the cover.
The fill/level check hole is at the same height compared to the stock cover so the fluid level remains at the same level with the PML cover.
