Volume: stock capacity compared to 3.3" deep stock pan, AC Delco part number 24243526
Dimensions: Click here for dimensions.
Number of Bolts: 18 (there are 20 holes, 2 holes locate the gasket and 18 holes for bolts to hold the pan to the transmission case)
PML designed this transmission pan for 2006 and newer Cadillac, GMC, and Chevrolet cars and GM trucks and SUVs with the 6L80, 6L80E transmission.
Benefits:
- Maintains ground clearance or clearance to skid plate, only 5/8 inch deeper than stock
- Heavy duty sand cast aluminum construction
- Finned to dissipate heat from transmission fluid
- Drain hole and magnetic drain plug for easier maintenance
- Fill/level check hole and plug for filling the transmission through the pan
- Thick walls to add strength to the transmission housing
- Thick gasket flange, machined flat for a leak free seal
There are several stock pans for the 6L80. This pan design is based on stock pan AC Delco part number 24243526.
For vehicles without a dipstick, there is a fill/level check hole on the rear of the OEM pan. On some OEM pans, the fill/level check is 5/8 inch below the flange. This is measured on the INSIDE of pan. The PML pan is made with a level check 5/8 inch below the flange but the PML pan level check can be machined to match other OEM pans.
If the exhaust crosses underneath the stock pan, you may need to drop or lower the exhaust to install this pan. Three bolts are difficult to access and there is not any space to manuever the thicker PML pan on to the transmission housing.
This pan is about 5/8" deeper than the 3.3" stock pan.
PML also makes a GM 6L80 deep transmission pan with extra capacity.
This pan will fit the GM 6L80, 6L80E transmission found on many configurations of GM, Cadillac, Chevy and Hummer H2. Some possible vehicles:
- Camaro 2010 to 2015, V8 6.2L
- Hummer H2 2008 to 2009, V8 6.2L, with undercarriage protection (check clearance)
- Trucks and SUVs needing more ground clearance than with the PML deep pan (such as those that are lowered or have skid plates)
- Cadillac/Chevy/GM cars with 3.3" stock pan
Check these items before ordering:
- Verify transmission is a 6L80/6L80E.
- Measure depth of stock pan since this PML pan replaces 3.3 inches deep stock pans.
- Check that there is clearance for a pan about 5/8 inch deeper.
- If vehicle requires use of fill/level check on pan, the level check height of the stock pan must match the level check height of the PML pan. This is a hassle, unfortunately. To find out the height of the level check to the flange, the pan cannot be on the transmission.
Configurations vary and PML cannot guarantee fitment.
Fill/Level Check Information
There are several OEM stock pans for the 6L80 transmission. Some have a level check on the transmission pan and some do not. The three most common pans are: no level check on pan, level check 5/8" below flange, and level check 1 1/16" below flange. This is measured on the INSIDE of the pan.
Other level check heights are possible. Contact PML if you have a level check height other than 5/8" or 1 1/16".
If your OEM pan does NOT have the level check on the pan, this information does not apply since the dipstick is used to check the fluid level. Typically, the pan for pre 2019 trucks and SUVs does not have a fluid level check on the pan.
Read this PDF about the 6L80 level check: Verify Level Check.
By default, the PML level check is 5/8 inch from the flange:

Some Corvettes and Cadillacs may have GM part number 24239529 (or a similar pan) with level check height larger than the PML default height. PML can machine the level check to 1 1/16" to match the OEM pan for these applications. Other level check heights are possible. Contact PML if you have a level check height other than 5/8" or 1 1/16".

OEM Stock Pan 2 1/4 Inches Deep
Some cars, such as the Pontiac G8, use a 2 1/4 inches deep pan. This PML pan cannot replace the 2 1/4 inches deep stock pan since the fill level is different and the filter would not be supported.
PML pan cannot replace this pan. Click on image to view larger.
Our thanks to those who have emailed us pictures of their installations.

Gasket Information
PML designed this stock capacity transmission pan for GM 6L80 transmission to use the stock OEM gasket. The stock OEM gasket is reusable. Make sure the gasket is clean and free of any holes or nicks to avoid leaks.
Filter Information
PML designed this stock capacity transmission pan for GM 6L80 transmission to use the stock OEM filter.
Check your stock pan depth. We based our design on a stock pan that is 3.3 inches deep. The filter is held in place by the bottom of the pan. Some stock pans are not 3.3 inches deep. For exapmle, the pan for a Pontiac G8 is 2 1/4 inches deep. This pan probably cannot replace that stock pan.
No filter supports or extensions are needed since this pan is the same internal depth as the 3.3 inches deep stock pan. On the outside, this pan is larger than the stock pan. If the stock pan is not 3.3 inches deep, there will be problems with the filter.
The stock GM filter is "GM Part No. 24236517" and the AC Delco box has part number "24236933".

Fill/Level Check Hole
Some vehicles use a level check hole on the pan instead of a dipstick. The level check hole on the pan is only needed if your stock pan has a level check hole for monitoring the fluid level. Many trucks have a dipstick and do not need a level check on the pan.
PML used AC Delco 24243526 to set the height for the level check hole in this transmission pan.
NOTE: Other stock pans may have different heights for the top of the level check. Read this PDF file with details and see the APPLICATIONS section.

Optional Temperature Sending Unit Machining
Optionally, PML can drill and tap a 1/8 NPT hole for a temperature sending unit. This would be for an aftermarket temperature gage. There is a custom machining charge.
There are three possible locations on this pan for this.

Select the option before adding pan to cart. A plug for the hole is included.
The standard size is 1/8 NPT. Check your aftermarket gage to verify the thread specifications for the sending unit before ordering. Call or email if you need a different size.
Drain and Included in Package
The drain is on the driver's side.
This pan includes a magnetic drain plug with a reusable copper sealing washer and mounting bolts. A plug is included for the fill hole.
