PML makes three covers for the GM 9.5 inch ring gear, 14 bolt, differential.
PML designed this cover specifically for Hummer H2 and GMC/Chevy trucks and SUVs needing differential cover with a drain hole and plug and extra capacity while clearing pan hard and sway bars.
Benefits:
- 0.5 quart of extra fluid capacity
- Drain hole and magnetic drain plug to simplify maintenance
- 1/4 inch deeper than stock for sway and pan hard bar clearance
- Fins for heat dissipation
- Sand cast aluminum construction for thick walls
- Machined gasket flange for a secure seal
- Includes new hardware, M8&ndash1.25 mounting bolts, fill plug and magnetic drain plug
Bolts: This cover ships with bolts to replace the M8–1.25 x 21mm stock bolts. These are the correct bolts for Hummer H2, Trailblazer SS, SSR 6 speed, and most 2001 and newer vehicles. See Bolt Information in Specifications for more information.
Note: Vehicle configurations vary so always check your configuration and clearance before ordering.
This PML GM 9.5 cover usually fits behind the sway and pan hard bars on:
- Hummer H2, 2003 to 2009
- Trailblazer SS, 2006 to 2009
- SSR 6 speed, 2005 to 2006
- Some Cadillac SUVs, such as Escalade
To remove the stock cover and install the PML cover, the panhard bar will temporarily need to be dropped.
Many other GMC and Chevrolet trucks, SUVs, and vans have the GM 9.5 differential and may also be able to use this cover (see Bolt Information in Specifications):

2007 Cadillac Escalade
Kirt installed this cover on his 2007 Cadillac Escalade 6.2L 2WD. He reported that the rear track bar needed to come off to get the cover on, but there is about 1/4 inch clearance when it is all back together. His Escalade uses the same bolts as the H2 (M8–1.25x21mm). Our thanks to Kirt for letting us know.

Bolt Information
This PML GM 9.5 differential covers ships with bolts to replace the M8–1.25x21mm stock bolts.
GM has used this differential since the late 1970s and has used four different bolts over the years.
All the Hummer H2, Trailblazer SS, SSR, and Escalade vehicles we have seen use M8–1.25x21mm stock bolts. Most 2001 and newer vehicles also use M8–1.25x21mm stock bolts. Other vehicles can use this cover but may need bolts with different threads.
See Guidelines for Bolt Sizes (click here), opens in new tab or window
Call PML at 310-671-4345 or email [email protected] if your stock bolts are NOT M8–1.25x21mm stock bolts.
Optional Temperature Sensor Machining
A boss on the side of the cover can be machined for a temperature sending unit. This boss is below the fill hole. Optionally, PML can drill and tap a 1/8 NPT hole. There is a machining charge for this.
Fill and Level Check
The fill hole is on the side of the cover at the same level as the stock cover. The level check hole is on the differential housing. Fill and check the fluid level with this PML cover just like with the stock cover.
Drain, Included With Cover
