PML designed this pan to meet the demands of high performance cars that require a lower profile than our extra capacity 200–4R deep pan.
Overall height is 3 1/8 inches. Although this pan is stock capacity, it is still larger than the stock pan. Always check your vehicle for clearance before ordering.
Benefits:
- Stiff construction
- Finned
- Aluminum cooling
- Drain hole and magnetic drain plug
- Thick, machined gasket flange for a secure seal
- Filter supports
- Location for optional drilling and tapping for a temperature sending unit
This PML pan fits many models of rear wheel drive cars with the GM 200–4R 4 speed automatic transmission. GM used this transmission from 1982 to 1990. Many models of these vehicles have the 200–4R:
- Buick Regal T Type
- Grand National
- Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS
The 200–4R (or 200 R4) transmission is popular replacement transmission for high performance applications.
Alway check your vehicle to verify clearance and fitment. Configurations vary.
Our thanks to those who have sent us pictures of our 200 4R stock capacity pan installed on their vehicles.

1970 Corvette
Dave in New Zealand has a 1970 Corvette TT2 with a GM 200 4R transmission.
Dave needed to fabricate a bracket to hold the shifter cable because the original one would not fit with the heavy duty PML pan. The middle picture (left hand side of the car) shows the bracket. He took the picture without the exhaust pipe fitted to get a good view.

1964 El Camino
Avery installed this PML transmission pan and PML Small Block Chevy valve covers on his 1964 El Camino.
Avery’s El Camino has a custom crossmember about 1/2" too far forward, but this PML pan dropped right on. He said it was actually easier to install the PML pan than the stock one was to remove!

The four rectangular areas on the bottom of the pan are the filter supports. The drain is at the top, right of the picture.
Gasket
For a gasket, PML generally recommends a cork composite type or paper fiber type gasket.
There are several brands and vendors for gaskets.
This is an example. It is a GM TH200-4R Transmission Oil Pan Gasket part number 8634198, ordered from GlobalTransmissionParts.com.

Filter Information
This PML pan works with stock filters. Example part numbers are: AC Delco TF234, Fram FT1057B, Fram FT1057C, Hastings TF60, Purolator P1194, Wix 58896
PML 200 4R transmission pans have filter supports so a filter extension is not needed. The supports hold the filter at the same level as the stock pan. The distance from the bottom of the stock pan to the top of the flange is 2.4 to 2.6 inches. The distance from PML filter supports to the top of the flange is the same. The stock filter is about 4.8 inches tall.
This shows the inside of the stock and PML 200 4R pans:
Some customers have reported to us that a 700R4 filter may also work with our 200 4R transmission pans. PML does not have any experience with this or recommend this.
Filter information is provided for reference only. Installer should verify transmission, filter and fitment based on the individual vehicle.
Included with PML 200 4R Stock Capacity Pan

Drain Location and Optional Temperature Sending Unit Machining
Click on image to view larger.
The drain is located on the driver side of the pan. A magnetic drain plug is included with each pan.
Optionally, PML can drill and tap a 1/8 NPT hole for a temperature sending unit. This would be for an aftermarket temperature gage. There is a custom machining charge.
A boss (thick area) on the passenger side of the pan is available for drilling and tapping.
Select the option before adding pan to cart. A plug for the hole is included. The standard size is 1/8 NPT. Check your aftermarket gage to verify the thread specifications for the sending unit before ordering. Call or email if you need a different size.
