PML's stock capacity transmission pan for Ford C6 transmissions maintains ground clearance for full size 1960's and 1970's cars. This pan provides the strength and cooling benefits of an cast aluminum transmission pan.

The drain is located on the rear of the pan. A magnetic drain plug and new mounting bolts are included.

The Ford C6 transmission is found on many full size Ford, Lincoln and Mercury cars, for example:

  • 66 – 69 Comet
  • 67 – 78 Cougar
  • 64 – 70 Fairlane
  • 66 – 74 Galaxie
  • 66 – 79 Lincolns
  • 66 – 80 LTD
  • 77 – 79 LTD II
  • 66 – 72 Meteor
  • 68 – 76 Montego
  • 68 – 74 Monterey
  • 66 – 79 Ranchero
  • 66 – 79 Thunderbird
  • 68 – 76 Torino

These classic Fords had options for several different transmissions. The C4, Cruise-o-Matic, and manual transmissions were also common. Please verify your transmission and look for any interference with a larger aftermarket pan before ordering. This pan may not clear cross members, generally found on Ford trucks and SUVs.

PML also makes anextra capacity Ford C6 transmission pan, PML Part Number 9592, for Ford trucks and SUVs with the C6. The deep pan provides provides extra fluid capacity and is stepped in the front and back to clear frame cross members on trucks and SUVs.

The gasket surface is machined flat for a secure seal to the housing.

The drain hole is at the bottom of the image. This will be toward the rear of the vehicle when the pan is installed.

PML designed this pan to work with stock gaskets and filters. Filter supports are not needed as the filter bolts on to the valve body. The fluid level is at the same place with a PML pan or a stock pan so an extension is not needed. The dipstick works the same with a PML pan as with the stock pan.

Both filter kits include a rubber-cork type gasket, which we recommended for use with a PML transmission pan.

These are from Fram and have part numbers FT1025a and FT1037a (longer pick-up spout).

Optional Temperature Sending Unit Machining

In 2014, PML added bosses to the pan, one on the driver's side and one on the passenger's side. These are areas that optionally can be machined for a temperature sending unit.

Installation on a 1971 Ford Mustang

Arthur installed a shifter and a PML transmission pan on his 1971 Mustang. He did loose some ground clearance since the PML pan is larger than stock. He thought he would need to modify the shifter cable bracket because the PML pan has thick walls but the bracket fit without modification.

PML Transmission Pan Features:

  • Sand-cast aluminum with raised fins
  • 3/16-inch thick wall construction to add strength to the transmission case
  • 3/8-inch thick gasket flange will not bend when bolts are tightened
  • Machined gasket surface for a secure seal
  • Boss cast into pan can be machined for a temperature sensor
  • Drain hole and magnetic drain plug for easier, less messy maintenance

All PML transmission pans ship with new mounting bolts and a magnetic drain plug.
