PML designed this extra capacity Ford 10R140 transmission pan for heavy duty Ford trucks with both diesel and gas engines.
These vehicles usually have a Ford 10R140 transmission:
- 2020 and newer F250
- 2020 and newer F350
- 2020 and newer F450, F550 and F600
Always check your vehicle. Configurations vary. PML cannot guarantee fitment..

2024 F-350 6.7 Diesel
Brian installed this PML 10R140 pan on his 2024 F-350 4WD 6.7 Powerstroke Diesel truck. He had no issues with the installation. He removed about 8 quarts of fluid, changed the filter and added in 12.5 quarts with the new PML pan installed. He used a transmission fluid pressure fill kit to pump fluid through the fill/level check hole on the PML pan.

2022 F-600 7.3 Gas
Ben installed this PML 10R140 transmission pan on his 2022 F-600 7.3 gas engine truck. He reported that all went well, fitment was very easy with tons of clearance to all exhaust components. Transmission took approx 8 qts to refill. He did not keep the heat shielding as he feared a salt trap. Also the heat shield had a few of its bolt holes corroded and oversized already and would only be able to be fastened with half the original hardware.

2021 F-250 7.3 Gas
Steve installed this PML on his 2021 F-250 Tremor 4WD 7.3 gas engine truck. He really likes the PML pan and finds it far superior to the plastic OEM pan. The PML pan fit properly and has not leak and he prefers the PML gasket to RTV, which is messy and difficult to use with the tight spacing near the exhaust components. Here are notes from his installation:
- Removed 6 quarts from stock pan and added 10.5 quarts with the new PML pan
- For the installation, it was tight at catalytic convertors for removing the OEM pan so he pulled the catalytic converters apart with ratchet straps. The rear exhaust cross pipe did not pose any issues. He wrapped the straps around the cats and secured on the OEM running boards. This provided the necessary clearance of about 1/8 to 1/4 inch to remove the OEM pan get the new PML pan in place.
- He used OEM filter part FFT-221. When replacing the filter, he noted that there is a small plastic sleeve reused that attaches to the neck of the intake port.
- He used a pneumatic fluid extractor to remove fluid from the OEM trans pan. To add fluid, he started with a hand pump and initially added 8 quarts of Mercon ULV. Then he warmed up the truck to get the trans fluid to 195 degrees Fahrenheit. Next he added an additional 2.5 quarts until the PML pan was full. While the truck was running he placed his foot on the brake and cycled the transmission through each gear for about 10 seconds.
- He did not use the heat shields with the PML pan.
- To hold the PML gasket on the pan, he used a small amount of die electric grease on the PML pans gasket surface to keep it in place.
- Reusing the stock trans pan bolts to secure the new PML pan worked fine.

2020 F-250 4WD 7.3 Gas
Steve installed this PML transmission pan on his 2020 Ford Super Duty with a 10R140 transmission. Steve said it was a tight fit and getting the PML pan installed required some gently prying and pushing.

Notes from his installation:
It was tight fitting between the catalytic converters and the stock pan was tight coming out. The tabs on the front of the pan is where the interference was at. I used a soft mallet and light prying to work it past the cats. I didn't have to do anything extreme, I just worked it a little at a time and took my time. I had nothing to attach to those tabs so they weren't needed. So I didn't have to loosen or drop the exhaust. If you were to drop the trans cooler that's in front of the pan it may help but you may have to drain the cooling system to do so. In total I had 5 hours in draining and removing the original pan, replacing the filter and installing the new pan and filling. I was able to reinstall the heat shields after doing the final fluid check also.
So far everything is good, there are no leaks and I have to drive it quite a ways to get the fluid to 195 degrees. I will recheck the fluid level when I can get it above 200 degrees. I like your fluid check hole makes it a lot easier.
Gasket
PML recommends cork or cork composite type gaskets. A custom PML cork composite gasket is included with each 10R140 transmission pan. The OEM gasket is an o ring and will not work with the PML pan.

Some OEM stock pans have a the level check in the pan. PML includes a level check that replicates the OEM pan level check. These are on the inside of the transmission pan. In the two close up pictures of the level check, there is a metal bar that sits on the flange for reference. The holes in the PML level check are the same distance above the flange as the holes in the stock pan level check.
Included with PML 10R140 Transmission Pan
PML includes a cork composite gasket, magnetic drain plug with washer, and a level check standoff pipe and level check hole plug. PML 10R140 pan works with the OEM bolts. On some vehciles, the 6 long OEM bolts are used to attached a heat shield.
Tabs on Flange and Heat Shield
This PML pan has tabs on the side of the flange for compatibility with the OEM pan.
Picture shows the tabs on one side of the PML pan. On the other side of the PML pan, there are 3 more tabs.

If there is a heat shield, our customers have told us that it can be reinstalled after installing the PML pan. Minor modifications may be needed.
PML Transmission Pan Compared to Stock
This PML transmission pan is about 1.7 inches deeper than the OEM pan. These images show this PML transmission pan compared to the stock pan.
