The 5R110 and 5R110W may have minor internal differences but the names seem to be used interchangeably to refer to the Ford TorqShift transmission. This web page uses 5R110. This pan fits both. The stock pans are different.
This PML transmission pan fits the Ford 5R110, 5R110W TorqShift automatic transmission from about 2008 to 2010. 2008 is a transition year when Ford updated the 5R110 and moved a filter inside the transmission pan. The stock pans are different.
PML designed this new pan to accomodate the addtional filter that Ford moved inside the pan in 2008. Many models of Ford trucks and vans with the 5R110 can used this pan. Here are some examples of vehicles that may be able to use this pan:
- 2008 to 2010 F250, F350, F450, F550 Super Duty trucks with 6.4 Power Stroke Diesel
- 2008 to 2014 E250, E350, E450 vans with 6.4 Power Stroke Diesel
- 2008 to 2014 E250, E350, E450 vans with V10 6.8 gas engine
- 2008 to 2013 motorhomes based on these platforms
Vehicle configurations vary so always check to verify transmission and space available for a larger pan.
Check your stock pan before ordering. This pan replaces the stock pan that accommodates the additional internal filter. Ford updated the transmission and transmission pan in 2008. 2008 is a transition year. The 2008 and newer models have a larger transmission pan and an additional filter is located inside the pan. The middle of the pan is about 4 1/2 inches wide. On the 2003 to 2007 stock pan, the middle is about 3 inches wide. See these pictures:

Ford vehicles with the 5.4 gas engine usually have the exhausted routed too close to the stock pan to allow for a larger transmission oil pan.
Rich of Auto Illusions, (412) 264-2303, built this 2009 F350 6.4 4WD Diesel truck for the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. He used the same custom red powder coat color on the body, suspension, PML transmission pan and differential covers.

Filters Supports and Baffles

PML designed this pan to work with the stock filter. The pan has filter supports cast into the pan.
The fluid level is at the same place with the PML pan as with the stock pan. The pick up for the transmission fluid is at the point with the PML pan as with the stock pan. A filter extension is not needed.
Baffles on the inside of the pan direct fluid to the filter pick up and aid in heat dissipation.
PML recommends a flexible cork or cork composite gasket for this pan, such as this:
This cork gasket is a replacement for Ford OEM part number E9TZ-7A191-A. We ordered it from GlobalTransmissionParts.com and their part number is 3072A. This gasket will work with E4OD, 4R100 and 5R110 transmissions.
We do not recomment hard, reusable gaskets for our pans. These gaskets work best with stamped steel pans.
Optional Machining for Temperature Sending Unit
This pan can be machined for a temperature sending unit on the driver/left side.
If you would like PML to drill and tap the hole, the machining charge is per hole. A plug for the hole is included.
The standard size is 1/8 NPT. If another size is needed, please call or email.
