PML designed and manufactured this 10L1000 Allison transmission pan for 2020 and newer Duramax trucks. The design focuses on maintaining the general shape of the OEM pan while adding extra capacity and a finned bottom for heat dissipation.
Benefits of PML Design
- Extra capacity
- Finned to increase surface area for heat dissipation
- Drain and magnetic drain plug
- Thick walls and gasket flange
- Heavy duty construction
- Shape similar to OEM pan to replicate fluid flow and dynamics of OEM pan
- Deep sump middle design avoids clearance issues with any cross frame members or exhaust packages
Always check your vehicle to verify transmission and clearance. Configurations vary and other transmissions are possible.

- 2020 and newer GMC Sierra 3500HD with 6.6L V8 Diesel
- 2020 and newer Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD with 6.6L V8 Diesel
- 2020 and newer Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD with 6.6L V8 Diesel
- 2020 and newer 2500HD/3500HD trucks with V8 6.6L gas engines may also have this transmission
In 2020, heavy duty GMC and Chevy trucks started using the new Allison GM 10L1000 10 speed. The Duramax diesels are usually paired with this new transmission on 2500 and 3500 models.
In 2020, 4500, 5500 and 6500 trucks still use the classic 6 speed Allison transmission. We do not have information on 2021 and newer 4500 and larger trucks.
2020 to 2023 gas engine trucks are usually paired with the 6L90 transmission (see PML 6L90 deep pan) but may have other options.
Always check your vehicle to verify transmission and clearance. Configurations vary and other transmissions are possible. Some vehicles have 6 speed transmissions and others have 10 speed transmissions so check carefully.
2020 Silverado 2500HD
Andy installed this PML 10 speed transmission pan on his 2020 Silverado 2500HD 4X4 High Country. He reported that the pan fit fine with zero issues. There was plenty of clearance and nothing had to be removed to install the PML pan.
Andy decided to purchase a Mityvac ATF filler to make the refill easy and fast although it was expensive. He added about 15 quarts of Dextron ULV fluid.

Filter and Gasket

Use the OEM stock filter and gasket for this pan.
The filter bolts on to the valve body. No filter extension needed. The pan is not so deep that there is any stagnant fluid at the bottom so an extension is not needed. There's plenty of mixing of fluid when the engine is running.
The PML design does not interfere with the normal fluid dynamics of the transmission. Fluid levels function the same way with the PML pan as with the factory pan. Fluid pick up is at the same place and the fluid level check/dipstick works the same.
PML Allison 10L1000 Transmission Pan Drain, Level Check and Optional Temperature Sending Unit
This PML pan has a drain on the driver/left side and the level check/fill hole is in the front in the same location as on the OEM stock pan.
Optionally, PML can machined this pan for a temperature sending unit. There are two possible locations, one on the driver/left side and one on the passenger/right side. The standard size hole is 1/8 NPT but other sizes are possible but must be discussed over the phone. 1/8 NPT temperature sending unit machining can be selected in the shopping cart and an additional charge applies.
